About this procedure

Do you feel that you look tired or angry all the time, or do people frequently ask you if you’re upset? Some patients notice that they have developed excessive wrinkles in their forehead. Others find that they are constantly raising their eyebrows in order to see better. Many of these patients think that what they need is eyelid surgery, or a blepharoplasty, when in fact it is their brow that is drooping and needs to be raised.

The good news is that a surgical correction called an eyebrow lift, forehead lift, or brow lift, is a highly successful operation, which improves the patient’s facial appearance to a remarkable degree. Of course, if necessary, the eyebrow lift may also be done in conjunction with eyelid surgery.

Raising the brows provides for a more awake and cheerful look. It may also improve the patient’s vision. Care must be taken to avoid over correction, which would result in a surprised look, and caution must also be taken to avoid raising the hairline in an individual with a naturally high forehead.

There are several approaches that may be taken, depending upon the patient’s needs and anatomy. Incisions may be placed in front of, or behind the hairline. The muscles that cause the frowning wrinkles between the eyes may also be treated at this time, as well as the anger lines. The results from an eyebrow lift will likely seem dramatic to the patient, yet subtle to others.
